The Pi is available from US retailers, which should cut down the shipping cost and VAT (I've never felt that a 20% sales tax adds any value to my life but ymmv).rasprm3 wrote:Total for my Pi set up was about $120 US. That's without a monitor, keyboard, or mouse.
Pi was $35, but there's a British VAT (value added tax, basically federal income tax over there) that made it $42. Plus shipping. Plus a good SD card and nice little case. I forget what else, but it added up quickly. Cabling too.
A lot more expensive than I thought, but it does what I got it for. I'm sure it could do more if I wanted. And it's not supposed to draw much power. I started wondering what a NUC or something would cost compared to the Pi.
British VAT is not federal income tax, it's sales tax. And it does not apply to overseas sales.rasprm3 wrote:Total for my Pi set up was about $120 US. That's without a monitor, keyboard, or mouse.
