Putting Raspberry Pi in Antique Radio

EXCITED, getting my first Raspberry Pi today!! (and my first post)

Ok, So I know there is a tutorial for this out there but the situation I am describing is different.

I have an antique radio that I am trying to restore but it may take be a couple of years to do, so my goal is to put a raspberry pi computer, case and maybe a small 5 inch monitor with a bluetooth/wifi adapter and a bluetooth keyboard/mouse.

Now my questions are:
1. What is the best OS to add to this to listen to streaming radio, goggle music, and music that would be on the SD card?
2. Is a Class 6 SD card good enough? Or should I get a 10?
3. I would like to get some USB lights so the radio dial will light up and look neat. What are the best lights for that?

I do not want to remove the innards yet as I can get it working, just would take a while so making the dials work is not an issue. I just want the dial to light up.

are 2 of the more popular options,
both can be controlled via apps on a smart-phone or tablet,
volumio was previously known as raspifi, both can put out some decent audio when paired with a dedicated usb sound output (the onboard audio output on the pi sounds poor quality compared with a usb option).

If you radio has a PU/gram socket you can plug the pi in with banana plugs

You can run LEDs from the GPIO pins on the PI, there is no real need to get USB LEDs
Alternatively there are LED add on boards which plug on to the GPIO pins (eg the PiGlow from Pimoroni)
