Started for first time...but nothing

Sun Mar 23, 2014 5:12 pm

Hello,

I have just powered up my Pi Model B for the first time. But I get nothing. The USB keyboard doesn't seem to be working, and there is nothing on the screen. The screen is VGA, and I have an HDMI to VGA adapter.
The PWR light is on. Connecting a voltmeter to TP1 and TP2 shows 4.8V.
I have a Lexar SDHC card with Raspbian image on it.
I have no idea how to troubleshoot this. Any help greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Paul

The problem seemed to be the SD card.

I had followed the instructions here:

http://computers.tutsplus.com/articles/ ... -mac-53600

for getting Raspbian onto the SD card. Everything seemed to be successful, but as I posted, the pi would not boot. I re-formatted the SD card, put NOOBS on it, and the pi booted fine - VGA video, keyboard, mouse, everything just worked first time.

Thanks,
Paul

Although you seem to have the problem sorted now, I'm wondering whether you originally just manually transferred the image onto the SD card or used imaging software (eg, Win32DiskImager) for the job. The former won't work. The latter will. :)
Pi2B Mini-PC/Media Centre: ARM=1GHz (+3), Core=500MHz, v3d=500MHz, h264=333MHz, RAM=DDR2-1200 (+6/+4/+4+schmoo). Sandisk Ultra HC-I 32GB microSD card on '50=100' OCed slot (42MB/s read) running Raspbian/KODI16, Seagate 3.5" 1.5TB HDD mass storage.
