Damaged SD card.

Sun Mar 23, 2014 3:24 am

I was using my RPi today and accidentally dropped the TV on it. I broke the small plastic corner off the SD card and now it doesn't read unless I push it down with my finger. It works fine in my computer and camera though.

Would I be able to glue the plastic thing back on or will it damage the electronics inside the card?

No, the SD Card has sustained physical damage gluing won't fix the broken contains inside only the outer shell.
If you have important data stored on the card I would recommend you copy what you can and get a replacement.

The fact that it still works in your computer and camera suggests that you've probably done no damage to the chip itself or the interconnects. I'd be tempted to try glueing the snapped off piece back on. Whether I'd still trust it in the long-term is another matter, and I'd certainly never use it for any 'mission critical' work in the future.

I glued it back on and it seems just as strong as it was, And it works now. Thanks for the help.
