Edit LXDE start-menu item

I modify a menu-item in the start-menu by right-clicking on it and choosing Properties. Then I edit the command and click OK (and there is no error-message). But when I start the program using the menu it doesn't use the changes, and when I open the properties again it has the original settings.

I've tried to do

Code: Select all

lxpanelctl restart

but that doesn't help.

How can I change the command for the menu-item.

Background:
I've compiled and installed a new version of xterm with Sixel-graphics and that starts when I click the menu-item (I know this because it has a Sixel-option in a menu). But I want to start xterm like this:
xterm -ti 340 -xrm 'XTerm*sixelScrolling: True'
Unfortunately this change is not saved using the editing of properties.

In /usr/share/applications is the .desktop files for each item on the menu. Find you menu item the open it an text editor and make your changes.

I still think it is strange that you can edit and seemingly save the same properties using the GUI and yet nothing is saved, and no warnings that saving didn't work.

Can someone helpme out here..

I see the .desktop files in /usr/share/applications/ but how do I make them not show up in the menu. I have tried deleting the file and when I restart its still there?
