raspberry pi & HDMI related issues...!

I've connected my laptop and raspberry pi through the HDMI-to-HDMI cable and I can't find the raspberry pi's display on my monitor...

is there anything that has to be configured...please help me...

Are you saying that you've connected your Pi and laptop together with an HDMI cable, or that you've connected both to a monitor via separate HDMI cables?

If it's the former then you're connecting an output to an output, so you won't get a picture.

If it's the latter then there must be a button on the monitor somewhere to select between its HDMI inputs.
