SD card isn't being formatted.

Sat Feb 22, 2014 7:33 pm

I recently acquired a raspberry pi with an 8GB micro SD card. (It has been running fine until today)When the card is in the PI and I try to boot it, it comes up saying that the card is corrupt/incomplete. I am trying to reformat the whole thing (as I don't have any files on the PI) but my windows7 PC with a SD card reader is not picking up the card.(Nor is the software for reformatting the SD card on the raspberry pi website. It freezes, and only starts responding when I take the SD card out of the computer.) In "My Computer" no disk is shown (or removable drive). The reader on the computer works perfectly well as it reads other SD cards in the same port.
I have been overclocking my PI at MEDIUM for a few days. It is model B.
Any help would be appreciated.

Have you got a digital camera that can format it?

Certain SD Card readers are not SDHC (high capacity) compliant and only support 2GB or lower.
You can fix this by purchasing a SDHC memory card reader from most cheap outlets like Poundland else Maplin. :)
If 4GB or higher memory cards work in your card reader then it looks like the card is Swiss cheese evident from the report of data corruption.

Thanks! It worked when I bought as card reader, and it was all fixed, thanks for the posts :)
