won't boot

Wed May 30, 2012 8:44 pm

I have just flashed a card with xbmc and all I get is a full colour spectrum on boot with a red LED on the board. Have I done something wrong?

I tried to install RaspMC on a new SD card and got the same result. I assumed the SD card isn't compatible, but would be good to know if something else is going on.

Please post your SD information here, ideally you need a class 8 and above.

Also have you tried the standard debian package to see if that works? If that works then I'd say its the distro you are using, also check the card for "bad blocks"

You need to ensure that you have used a form of disk image burning software. If you just C/P the files it will not work. What class is your SD Card?

The card is fine as it was used previously for another distro which booted OK.

I'm guessing something went wrong while restoring the image to card. will ahve another go in the morning.

I used a class 6 generic 4GB card.
I also have a class 4 sandisk 8GB card, both of which worked fine with debian and arch.

I used the USB image tool as instructed. everything seemed fine until the pi needed to restart then all I got was the colour spectrum screen

For me it matches an issue with the RaspMC installer - see http://forum.stmlabs.com/showthread.php?tid=309 for details.

The installer worked fine on my other card, so maybe just reinstalling would work - I'll try the fix in the link tomorrow.

good find, works fine now thanks.

Only problem now is keyboard not working but the link also explains that.

Thanks again
