Antenna TV With PI?

Fri Feb 07, 2014 12:17 am

So I have this USB ATI TV Wonder 600 series (I think this is the name) It's usless to me on my pc because the drivers are no longer made for windows 7 ( They never were) So I wan't to know what I will need. Will I need to get drivers, what software is needed to view the tv? Thanks!! :D

Edit* I'm pretty sure this will be asked, Of course it is the usb 2.0 version not the pci express.

Well according to https://www.diamondmm.com/tvw600usb-ati ... d-600.html there are drivers for Windows 7 unless you're using 64bit version.
I also understand that Windows 7 does provide some level of backwards compatibility for Vista drivers so in failing that try the Vista 64bit ones.

As for the Pi compatibility you're going to have to plug the dongle into the USB port and report back the USB vendor ID code with: lsusb
You may have to insert the dongle before Pi is switched on since a power hungry device it's likely to cause the Pi to reboot on startup.

Info from linuxtv website:

http://www.linuxtv.org/wiki/index.php/A ... HD_600_USB

Don't know how well this works under Raspbian, if at all.
People have used USB receivers for projects (funcube dongle pro+): unfortunately the Pi will struggle to run gnuradio
But can be used as a front end to forward data for processing on a more powerful box.

It has been my custom to use Xeyes

I am always on 64 bit :)

Oh and also very sorry to say this, I am very new to the pi so if most things can be made to understand like a 10 year old I will be super happy!!! :P

Or you could use it to turn your Pi into a PVR with raspbmc

Can this be done on raspian though? I like raspBMC but it is a little slow.
