Which Wifi Dongle Is The Best?

Tue Feb 04, 2014 4:49 pm

Hello Everyone,

I am new to the world of Raspberry Pi and have been reading a lot about it and I am amazed at the capabilities of it.
I haven't bought a Dongle yet and I have been looking on ModMyPi's Website and they have four to choose from.
The WiFi Dongle - Tenda W311U+ High Gain 3.5dB, WiFi Dongle - Tenda W311M Mini, WiFi Dongle - Nano USB and the WiFi Dongle - Tenda W522U - Dual Band 5Ghz. It's to be able to pick up the broadband at home with the best strength and speed possible.

Thank you in advance,

I'd have gone for the high gain with the big aerial but it's out of stock.

Depends what you're using your RPi for and how many metres distance and how many walls are between you and your AP.

Would there be any of the one's in stock you would recommend instead? Thank you.

You didn't clearly state your requirements. How far? How many walls?
My RPi has an Edimax dongle and works just fine, but it's only 5 metres from the AP and there's a clear path with no significantly dense walls between RPi to AP.

The hurdle (which you've already jumped) is getting one that is known to work with the RPi.
