USB drive not appearing in RaspBMC

Tue Feb 04, 2014 3:07 pm

Hi all,

I've got my Pi running RaspBMC, and it all seems to work, but it won't detect my USB drive. I have a 1TB Intenso drive that I'm mounting via a powered hub. The hub has other devices attached to it which function, and I've tried different ports. The drive doesn't appear in /media/ as the FAQ says it should. Any ideas?

I'm afraid my only idea I have is to ask on their boards. I'm not sure how they handle auto-mounting in their XBMC build.

Well, that and try connecting the drive directly to the pi without going through the hub and seeing if that works. Obviously, it wouldn't be a long term solution, but it would at least give you an idea as to where the problem might lie
Dear forum: Play nice ;-)

USB devices should auto-mount with XBMC although I've noticed the NOOBS version of OpenELEC does not (maybe RaspBMC has same dodgy setup??).
You can remotely login to RaspBMC via ssh (see FAQ for username / password) once you have root access you can force a manually mount of removable media (sda1, sda2 etc).

I have no idea how to do that :)
