The Pi in my motorhome

Sun Jan 26, 2014 4:23 pm

Hello

I'm living in a motorhome, and travelling around the Netherlands.
I would like to have acces to internet through open wifi channels, like Mc Donalds or hotels, etc.

I want to install the Pi in my camper, because it use almost no electricity.
What can I do best?
Install a router, or connect a Wifi-antenna directly on the Pi?
Wich OS is the best to install on the Pi in this case.
I just want to surf a little bit on the web, and check my mail.

I'm not a specialist, and do know NOTHING about programming, so please, please use understandeble language in your answers.

Greetings and thanks.

Hi,
I would install Raspbian Wheezy, and plug a small Wifi adapter in, the currect raspbian wheezy has a web browser built in, and an auto configure for the wifi and is fairly easy to set up! however im not to sure how secure this would be for checking emails etc through untrusted open wifi!
