Keyboard Map

Fri Jan 24, 2014 2:41 am

My standard US keyboard shows the shift "@" as the quote ". Lots of other stange special key problems. I do have a new powered usb hub even tried direct connect to RPi so I assume power supply is not a problem??
I hope this is not a silly beginner thing.

International keyboards have a different keyboard mapping, especially for a number of symbols, than the US keyboards. It would help if you mentioned your distribution, that may affect the solution.

There are a number of files in Arch that can play a role with this, I believe, and I do not know the other distributions, but I am sure someone will come along later and tell you how to fix it.

I have tried reading how to change the keyboard layout recently as I want to sometimes be able to use a Spanish layout keyboard I have, but have not tackled actually using it. Right now, it just has sticky tags I put on on the keys that are different!

Everything is beginner stuff if you have not done it before, no matter how much experience you have!

For Raspbian only.
Run the confg utility again.
sudo raspi-config

Select 4 then I3
If your exact keyboard is not listed then choose one of the generic keyboards
Find English (US)
Complete the other menu settings then reboot.
Unless specified otherwise my response is based on the latest and fully updated RPiOS Buster w/ Desktop OS.
