raspbmc

Wed Jan 01, 2014 4:00 pm

I downloaded the raspbmc installer from here and ran setup to install it on a 8gb sd card. I have booted up my pi with the card in it but I am just getting the rainbow screen. I get a single blip on power up from the act light and then just the power light is lit.
I've tried several sd cards etc, but all to no avail. Is there another way to install it?

I believe that Raspbmc is included in NOOBS. Be sure to properly read and follow the instructions for installing NOOBS or NOOBS-lite.

Hi, thanks for the response, unfortunately the noobs option doesnt work for me, one of my other posts covers it. I had to install raspian from the raw file and edit the config.txt file which got me to a working pi.

Fortunately the same approach has just worked with raspbmc. I downloaded the file at the link above, installed it to the sdcard using my laptop and edited the config.txt. this then booted in the pi and connected to the raspbmc site and ran through the network install.

I just wish i could get the noobs install working.

With Raspbmc you're better off using their native installer. The NOOBS version of Raspbmc has some issues with updates
