Model A image vs Model B

Wed Jan 01, 2014 9:31 am

I have an SD card that I setup (using NOOBS) on a type A board that I now want to run on a type B board. When I put this card into a type B board, the board does not boot. I understand that they have different hardware but thought that I could simply use the same image without issue. Is there a setting that I can edit on the SD card to allow it to run on the Type B board?

The images are the same for both boards. No changes should be required.

When you say "the board does not boot", can you give more details?

Have you looked at the troubleshooting sticky post and the wiki page?

Do you get any screen output at all?

Does the green ACT/OK LED flash or flicker at all in the model B?

How recent is the image you are using?

My apologies. It is booting.

The LEDs do briefly flash.

This is interesting: I have two versions of the SD card image and have connected a monitor:

SD Card 1: goes to the OS setup (NOOBS) screen
SD Card 2: goes displays "Kernel panic" "unable to mount"

It looks like I am going to have to start over with a fresh install using NOOBS.

For future reference: can I copy the contents of a setup SD card to a folder on my PC or are the hidden files on the SD card?

I'd like to have copies of known good configurations.
