HDMI output "Mode not supported" And incorrect Resolution

Thu Dec 26, 2013 10:34 pm

So I recently just got my own raspberry pi and on my SD I put NOOBS on it. From NOOBS I installed both raspbian and rasbmc as I also wanted to watch movies. My first issue was that after I had them installed and wanted to boot, it would turn on, and I would get "Mode not supported" from my TV. Afterwards I gained video and it was rasbian booting.
First problem: How can I fix the mode not supported so I can boot into raspbmc because I can not see.

After that I formatted my SD card and decided to give berry boot a try.
When I put berry boot on I once again got 'Mode not supported" and I went into config.txt and got it to show video by putting:
hdmi_force_hotplug=1
hdmi_drive=2
hdmi_group=2
hdmi_mode=*

*I tried multiple modes and still had the issue below:

So I did get video from berry boot with those, but the resolution was really low so some of the settings I needed to see in berryboot were covered up. I tried different hdmi_mode(s) to change the resolution but it stayed low the entire time

Can anyone help me fix either of these issues?

Try running the tvservice command to see what your HDMI is capable off.

well I did check it before (I can't remember what it is now) and I used hdmi_mode=* corresponding to the supported resolutions and hertz. And as I said I currently do not have an OS because I couldn't see some parts of BerryBoot.

EDIT: Ok I went and changed my
hdmi_group=2 to hdmi_group=1 and set hdmi_mode to hdmi_mode=16 for 1080p at 60Hz and it works now.
