Rebuild your SDCard. It's incomplete.

I have reset the SD card and reformatted it using the tool and copied the rasbian image using the other tool. It boots when on internet via RJ45 but you have to power it up about 3 times and it won't reboot at the end. I am letting it go for 5 seconds after shut down. Do I have another problems now. Is there anything I need to do? Please can you help?

Hi . . . I am new to this, we use macs so completely lost with screen commands!!!!

Context:
Connecting with power supply provided as part of kit
Linked with an HDMI cable to TV, USB Keyboard and Mouse
Pi has the new M - chip

Have had log in issues. Been following various threads. To date we have reformatted our SD card, reinstalled soft where having suspected damage card through improper shutdown.
- when repowered went through initial start up screen, selected Raspbian
- Then to configure options: changed password successfully, Enable boot to desktop, highlighted, clicked yes, asked to restart now, clicked YES.
- Then it went through the scroll down section of text commands, then the screen goes black with a single flashing curser?

- What should we do at this point?

- Tried entering username and password, nothing happens?

- how should we write this line ie:

- username: Pi
password: XXXXXX

we also tried typing “startx”

Can anyone help?

userid is: pi (all lower case letters)
password is: raspberry (all lower case letters and it doesn't display (not even as ********) when you type it)

So you're logged in with the userid and password.

Does the screen show:
pi@pi ~ $

Take a look at /var/log/Xorg.0.log by entering this command: less /var/log/Xorg.0.log, there should be some error messages written in English jargon in that file, use the arrow keys to scroll up and down.
(Type : then q to end that less command)
