Connecting to wifi network with pihut wifi dongle

Tue Dec 24, 2013 9:01 pm

Hi

I'm writing this message for my 9 year old son who has just got a Raspberry Pi model b and is trying to set up a wifi connection using a pihut dongle.

When we open the wpa_gui and click scan, another window opens and we can see our home network. We enter the psk password and press save. When we go back to the wpa_gui window the network name shows under 'adapter' but the 'authentication', 'encryption', 'SSID', 'BSSID' and 'IP address' fields are blank. The status says 'scanning'. The 'connect' button is greyed out and we can't click it.

If anyone can give us any tips to fix this problem we would be very grateful. Thanks and happy Christmas.

If encryption on your router is set to AES then choose CCMP on the RPi.
Unless specified otherwise my response is based on the latest and fully updated RPiOS Buster w/ Desktop OS.
