usb harddrive permissions

Tue Dec 17, 2013 4:41 am

Hi,

I am trying to record to my external hard drive in TVHeadend and I get a permission denied message.

How do I set the permission on an external hard drive to read write for all?

Thanks

Dave

Change the mount options to set uid guide and masks.
Or reformat your hard disk as ext4.

So reformatting the drive to ext4 will mean I don't need to change anything else?

When you mount an ext4 drive Linux knows how to deal with the permissions stuff. It will just work, like your root filesystem.
