Remote logon to Pi and display pdf

First post so be gentle..
I have logged on to Pi via windows remote desktop, no problem..
I now want to send pdf files to display on monitor connected to Pi
I can send files no problem but can only view them on laptop remote desktop,
this is not seen on monitor connected to Pi.
Please help!

ssh -XC user@yourremotehost.com

then run your xpdf or acrobat reader it will just show up on your desktop.

or in windows

run Xming and putty
