UBEC: What is what?

I need to battery power my Pi with 4 AA batteries each one rated at 1.5V. I have been told not to risk powering my pi with 6V, so I have got myself this: http://r.ebay.com/mDRtEV

When it arrived, I discovered they have not labelled which are the input and which are the output connectors, and it does not have a simple red and black connector for each (positive and negative).

I want to know which group of connectors are input (5.5V-26V) and which are output (5V)? I want to know what each connector does (orange, red and brown?)? I want to know which is input positive (to be connected to the battery pack +), which is input negative (to be connected to the battery pack -), which is output positive (to be connected to the Pi's 5V pin) and which is output negative (to be connected to one of the Pi's GND pins)? I can tell you that the bare wires are most likely input and the wires with a connector are output but am unsure why there are 3 rather than 2 wires, best to contact the seller.

EDIT You could remove the shrink wrap and trace the wires.

I think you are right about the wires.

The three-wire output is something to do with the connectors on RC devices typically being 3-pin. 0V, +V and servo-control. The third wire is probably not used on the UBEC.

The loose wires are the inputs. Red is +ve, black is -ve.

The orange wire is the control signal and is fed straight through as a convenience for ESC users (the principal market). You can ignore the orange wire.

Thank you very much. I made the assumption that the brown is the black wire, as it is not orange or red! So the red is + like usual, and brown is - like black is usually.

Guys, I have been using this UBEC:

In fact, the first one worked so well that I bought a second one for my second Pi.
My webserver Pi has been running 24/7 off the first one for over a month now.
I've been feeding it with 12 to 15 volts and getting a rock steady 5 volts out.
Easy to hook up, and it IS marked IN and OUT.

I have succesfully powered my Pi and done a test on how long it can survive using only 4AA batteries
