CUPS

Mon Nov 25, 2013 1:44 am

How can I install a version of cups newer than 1.5.3 on raspbian? I've tried compiling and installing cups 1.7 from source but init won't start it. I'm trying to network my printer to my computers. Apparently, according the the Arch Wiki, a bug prevents newer versions of CUPS from detecting and switching automatically from the newer IPP to the older IPP 1.1 for CUPS 1.5. Any ideas?

Does this need to be moved to another forum?

My real question is how do I install a version newer than 1.5.3 on the raspberry pi. Version 1.5.3 has a bug that makes it incompatible with newer versions of cups ipp.

sudo dpkg-reconfigure cups

I couldn't get cups 1.7 to work after compiled, but 1.6.4 installed and started, I'm testing and will provide results

I'm installing Arch on the raspberry pi. I like "bleeding edge" packages anyways :P***

I'm just gonna reinstall raspbian again and see if it works

Good luck with Arch, especially if you are a beginner Linux user
