Red power led flickers help

Hi all,

I have purchased a 512ram d9qhn raspberry pi. I however have the problem of it not booting even tho the sd card works fine on my other 256ram pi. I left it still connected and noticed the red led was off even tho it was still plugged in. I unplugged it and then plugged it back in and the red led was lit for a brief couple of seconds. I decided to leave it until the next day and the red led starting pulsating then went off. I cannot find anthing on the internet about anything similar. This unit was out of the box brand new and ive tried another power supply which produced the same effects.

Are any components getting really hot?

Look closely at the RPi board and verify that there are no bits of solder or strands of wire that may be shorting between the GPIO pins OR inside any of the connectors, USB, micro USB, SD slot etc.

If you don't find anything like that then I would say the RPi is defective.
