NOOBS won't download

Sat Nov 09, 2013 6:31 pm

I have tried to download NOOBS from the download page onto my MacBook using Safari and I keep getting 'decompression failed'. It downloads for about 20 minutes and appears to be working each time before it fails. Appreciate any help.

Which NOOBS download are you trying? The full version or the network install version?

Have you tried the Torrent download?
Running a Model B (256MB RAM) with Raspbian (in NOOBS 1.3) and a Model B (512MB RAM) with OpenELEC + CEC (No NOOBS, as it breaks CEC)

Are you able to use wget or curl on a Macbook?

curl -C - -O http://director.downloads.raspberrypi.org/NOOBS/images/NOOBS-2013-11-04/NOOBS_v1_3_2.zip
wget http://director.downloads.raspberrypi.org/NOOBS/images/NOOBS-2013-11-04/NOOBS_v1_3_2.zip

Sorry I'm not a MAC user so this is a guess - is it possible that you're trying to download and unzip at the same time? (For me "decompression" implies "unzip").
You might be better off trying to download NOOBS 1.3.2 lite - that's only ~20Mb and should take about 6 - 7 minutes.

Still running Raspbian Jessie or Stretch on some older Pi's (an A, B1, 2xB2, B+, P2B, 3xP0, P0W, 2xP3A+, P3B+, P3B, B+, and a A+) but Buster on the P4B's. See: https://www.cpmspectrepi.uk/raspberry_pi/raspiidx.htm

The NOOBS version is the 1 3 2 .zip one right from the raspberry.org website (the offline and network install one). I am following the adafruit tutorial, not sure why I would have to go to bitorrent or use any other downloading product. I agree it seems like 'decompression fail' means it is trying to unzip but in my past experience, when you download a zip file you get the zip file and then have to unzip it. For some reason, I am not even getting the download completed and it is giving me the 'decompression fail' error. Again, I am using Safari browser to download. I will try other browsers. Thanks for the advice.

I've tried well over a dozen times to download NOOBS but won't. It reaches a point then stops. Anyone have a way to download it on a mirror site?

Thanks,

seems to be fine at the moment, just downloaded the NOOBS lite install - only 21.8mb in a few seconds
If you haven't tried the network install try that it should be a swift download depending on your connection
b raspbian running get-iplayer and mini dlna server
b+ running volumio
pi 2 - dietpi - pihole, ssh and a few other bits
