The Pi Hut - Pi Powered Bee Hive Project

Sun Nov 03, 2013 9:48 am

Title is pretty self explanatory - as a personal project, I am looking to rig a bee hive up with some Raspberry Pi goodness.

I'm thinking temperature logging, noise sensors to predict a swarm perhaps even using a Pi camera as a webcam?

Is anybody out there undertaking a similar project? Any extra ideas for the hive?

Also need a cool project name :) I was thinking R2-B2 ?

Make sure you're using the Model Bee.

Pi Powered Bee Hive Project

Beeberry Pi?

Great idea. I would assume solar powered. A webcam mght be interesting, but light could be an issue, unless you're just watching for entrance activity or tampering.

I have a buddy who works with a cooperative in So. California: I'll see if he has any input.

I was thinking I could make use of the NoIR Camera, teamed up with a few IR LEDS
