How to connect a 4.3 Touch TFT LCD

Tue Oct 15, 2013 11:43 pm

Hello everyone,
I have bought a 4.3 LCD touch from WaveShare - http://www.wvshare.com/product/4.3inch- ... -LCD-B.htm - but I am finding really hard to figure out how to connect it to my RPi. The LCD interface is 24-bit parallel. It seems it doesn's have a LCD controller built in.Does anyone could help me to find a way to connect it to my RPi, if it is possible? I have also bought the DVK511 expansion board.
Thank you

Same situation here.
Helping hands can get more details about the panel from the manufactures docs : http://wvshare.com/downloads/accBoard/4 ... h-LCD-B.7z. (Sorry, can't attach directly due to size limits..)

While searching for a solution i stumbled upon this cheap and simple yet flexible HDMI to parallel 3.3v interface: http://www.harbaum.org/till/dvi2par/index.shtml. As i have only noob hardware knowledge, it would be great if someone could take a look at it and check if this circuit could be used / adapted.

Thanks a lot!

You will need an HDMI to parallel interface board - something like this:

I have not used this ..... just 1st Google hit. The YouTube video looks good.

Note that the DVK511 is not suitable for your 24 bit display.
Unless specified otherwise my response is based on the latest and fully updated RPiOS Buster w/ Desktop OS.

The converter looks to be a complete DIY project. You would need to source all the parts yourself and solder them.
They did not say where to obtain the PC board? Not a project for a beginner. I have soldered many SMT components but would not be able solder the main chip without an expensive microscope.
I did not see your first link as it is a zip file. Is there a pdf link?

Thanks for jumping in, klricks

That's the challenging fun stuff
Most parts are easily to find. For the TFP401A - PanelBus DVI Receiver i ordererd some free samples from http://focus.ti.com/docs/prod/folders/p ... p401a.html. I plant to mount them on some TQFP 32 48 64 80 100 to DIP convertors from ebay (at least for the prototyping). For the soldering stuff i have a fine magnifier lamp here. But I think it's a good idea to exercise TQFP soldering first on wasted pcbs.

Well, the schematic is there. I'm thinking of rebuilding it for single layer THT pcb (thus the converter).

The ZIP-Archive contains various PDF-Docs and programming samples (for whatever environment / hardware)

Hi guys,
Thanks for your help. After a long search I found this: http://harbaum.org/till/dvi2par/index.shtml . Do you think this board would work in my case?
Thanks!

lol, that's the same link as i already posted. I think this converter works, but it is a little bit tricky to build.. (See discussion above.)
