Using SAMBA will hang up device

Sun May 13, 2012 7:03 am

I've working with this great device for a several days. Look all the things are working normal.

Yesterday I've installed Samba to use the PI as a networkdisk from my Windows computers. The problem I've is that after copying a lot of files my PI stops working. Can't ping it anymore, only reboot by power down. It is random when this happend. Sometimes after coping for 5 minuts, sometime after 15 minuts.

Hopefully you can help me finding what the problem is.

The newer kernel.ingon GitHub may fix this.

Thanks. Must I upgrade this manually or is it integrated already in one of the new images.

You can update the files manually, but it's much quicker (and generally safer) to use Hexxeh's updater tool.

See here for more info and follow the links for installation instructions.

I've did the manually update from Hexxeh but still the same problem.

Is there a way to look in a errorlog what the last error was before crashing>?

For the record, I think this happens to me whilst trying to download a rather large file from the internet (so not Samba).

I'm connecting using SSH, where the connection closes unexpectedly, and then I cannot ping the device either.

Will look to update.

good luck
