Simple Web Page Display

Thu Oct 10, 2013 10:19 am

I am looking at the Pi to display a single web page generated by our joomla driven corporate intranet. This page contains javascript items (including a screen/slideshow element) and will be refreshed every hour or so.

A dedicated Raspberry Pi would be hooked up to a large screen monitor with little or no intervention once set up.

What would be the best operating system/browser combination to give the best chance of displaying the page as designed?

I am not overly technical so please, keep it simple!

You might try my Minmal Kiosk Browser, running in kiosk mode without booting to the desktop. The manual can be downloaded separately.
Minimal Kiosk Browser (kweb)
Slim, fast webkit browser with support for audio+video+playlists+youtube+pdf+download
Optional fullscreen kiosk mode and command interface for embedded applications
Includes omxplayerGUI, an X front end for omxplayer
