Looking for Splash screen to cover initial boot text

Wed Oct 02, 2013 4:53 pm

I have looked through the forums here and elsewhere, trying to find a solution that can show a simple image as a splash screen while the system is booting. I would want it just to show an image starting right after the Raspberry color screen test, and ending when Raspbian boots.

I have read about "splashy" but was unable to make it work.

I have also read about fbi, but it doesn't splash until after the text has scrolled for quite a while.

Has anyone set this up successfully?

Well the surest way of seeing if it's possible is to emphatically point out that you can't do what you want (short of creating a custom kernel).

I've not looked into the details, but OpenELEC and RaspBMC seem to manage it okay ;)
