howdy y'all

i just got a pi and i have a monitor, but it only has a VGA input. i found this HDMI to VGA converter. will it work?

I have to wonder if it works well, or at all because that price is far below what I have seen elsewhere. It would be great- if it works.

That adapter will not work likely, as it looks passive.

However, these adapters are confirmed working via the wiki:

And for  active converters, these are dirt cheap (some can go for $100 or more); they go to show that in theory, the foundation /could/ sell one for about $12.
