First time - can't even login

I am really excited about working with my Raspberry Pi but I am an absolute newbie - no Linux in my background.

I am working with NOOBs SD card that came with my Newark purchased starter kit and chose the safe Raspbian route. Seem to have created the image on the SD card but now I am getting a lot of code showing in my monitor. Mostly I am seeing errors like Id "1" respawing too fast, disabling for 5 minutes...then I seem to go into a loop and the too fast business starts all over again.

It can't find or run "getty" from sbin.

Do I just reflash the SD card and try again?

Thanks so much for you help. I want to at least get past this stage before I ask my Linux expert son-in-law. I want to do this myself!!!!

I reckon just redownload the latest version of Noobs and reflash again.

If re loading the SD card does not work then maybe try a different power supply.

I would advise you reformat your SD card and 'flash' it with NOOBS again. (There is also a NOOBS LITE) ... either will do .. LITE may be preferred.

To reformat .. using Windows, download SDFORMATTER first. Install it, then use it to reformat SD card, .. then unzip NOOBS or NOOBS LITE straight onto the SD card. A 'quick' format will probably be OK.
