Unable to delete recovery partition

Sat Sep 28, 2013 4:03 pm

I installed Noobs v1.2 and now I wanted to restore the SD card back to normal but I'm unable to delete the recovery partition. I have an 8gb micro sd card. I've tried it with the SD card adapter and use either GPartition or Windows utility but couldn't delete the recovery partition. If I put the micro sd card into a usb adapter, I get the message that the card is read-only and I couldn't delete the recovery partition.

A micro-SD to SD card adapter has a slide switch on one side that switches between locked (read only) and unlock.

I have unlocked the switch but still unable to delete the recovery partition. I'm wondering if others who are trying to restore their SD card back to normal have issue deleting their recovery partition after installing the noobs v1.2 or 1.3.

During "1.3 Beta" testing I had to delete all partitions and re-format several different SDHC or micro-SDHC cards using GParted on my netbook running Ubuntu several times without problem. I always use an external SDHC compatible USB stick card reader/writer, since the "card slot" on the nebook is not marked "SDHC". The process involved unmounting any mounted partitions first, followed by deleting the partitions in reverse order ie. the recovery partition last and, finally, creating a new partition that used the whole card, formatting it to FAT32. Can you post a screenshot of what Gparted reports about your card.
(FWIW, and for reference, a NOOBS 1.2.1 example can be found at: http://www.cpmspectrepi.webspace.virgin ... g_Raspbian - I hope to be able to update my "NOOBS webpages" to 1.3 sometime next week).

Still running Raspbian Jessie or Stretch on some older Pi's (an A, B1, 2xB2, B+, P2B, 3xP0, P0W, 2xP3A+, P3B+, P3B, B+, and a A+) but Buster on the P4B's. See: https://www.cpmspectrepi.uk/raspberry_pi/raspiidx.htm

If that's the case, my micro sd card is probably corrupted. I'm wondering if others are having the same issue when using Noobs v1.2 and they wanted to restore their SD card to original.
