Re: Two LANs on a RasPi

Sat May 05, 2012 6:01 pm

I'm looking at a RasPi for an application I have but it needs 2 LAN connections - i.e. there are two discrete LANs it would need to communicate on. Is it possible/feasable to implement a second LAN interface on the RasPi?  Is a USB-LAN adaptor on a USB hub a realistic option, in which case is there likely to be a suitable driver available on  Debian? Is there some other option to implement 2 LAN interfaces that I haven't thought of?

I have other questions but this is the most critical for my application.

Cheers,

JohnK

There are drivers for USB ethernet and wifi adapters for Debian - google will tell you more. Good luck with your project.

The "first LAN" on the R-PI is simply an integrated USB LAN adapter, so the logical extension is to add another one, that is add a USB ethernet adapter.

Thanks guys. Seems that it may be a goer - I'll order a RasPi and try it out (when I eventually get one!).
