boot info needed please

i have a samung 8 gb class 2 micro sd hc card that will not see any images to boot.i have a generic class 2 micro sd(not hc) card that will!with this i can only fit arch linux .img and this it a little too advanced for me.i would like a gui.

i remember reading somewhere that it is possible to have something(?)stored on sd card that points to usb storage for the rest of info needed to boot.is this possible eg have debian image on usb stick and have kernel on sd and tell it to boot from usb?

I afraid that the USB option, whilst possible (we thnk), hasn't been tried.

What exactly is the problem you are seeing, with the 8GB SD card?

the cards just seem to be problamatic.is there any documentation that you could point me to to try?this would be very helpful and would need me not to buy a mahooosive sd card.
