So here's my goal: I want to use the Pi to grab one extra ethernet port for downstairs.
Every time I try this, the ethernet randomly dies then doesn't work until a reboot.
I now have a freshly formatted Wheezy Card.
Is there any way to do this?

Hi there, have a read of this and just don't do the finishing off stage. With this you'll be able to run the Pi on a hub and share the wifi connection to multiple Ethernet devices or just plug it straight into a single device.

After trying that, connections are extremely slow!
