Default username and password

Thu Aug 29, 2013 2:17 pm

Hi Forum!

I have a pi, a raspberry pi. when I boot it, it prompts me for a username and password. the default should be username: pi, password: raspberry, but this does not work for me and I cant log in.

Is there another password/username?

thanks

If you're running Raspbian then username = pi, password = raspberry
Just be aware when entering the password nothing is echoed to the screen, if you're entering username and see nothing either then your keyboard may not be working.

I'm told that if you've ended up in safe-mode you might need username root & password raspberry

thank you both for replying.

Let me state what I've tried so far.

keyboard works as I can see the username. not sure which Linux version is on there, I got the sd card with the pi. I tried root with raspberry as the password, but it doesn't accept it.

Going to setup a new sd card, but only have a 32 gig, does the pi support such a large card?

one thing though, at the shell when trying to run startx I get a "error while loading shared libraries: libpixman-1.so.0: cannot open shared object file: no such file or directory"
