does gimp work on the raspberry pi? i've see some of the cool stuff you can do with it. also if it does work do i have to compile it or adjust settings or something else i don't know how to do to install or run it?

According to the Wiki, the Fedora Remix distribution comes with the Gimp, so the answer would be yes.

Yes, slow to load - like about 90 seconds. Apparently then usable but not productive due to speed.

Slow to load is a GIMP problem on ANY platform - I have no idea why...
