Help WIth PSU

Tue Aug 20, 2013 12:22 pm

Hello everyone i'm having some trouble picking up some parts for my PI(Don't even have it yet :P) , I'm planing on building a mini arcade machine with a PI Model B and the PIMAME image and the setup would be like this:

PI Model B

7'' 12v Car Screen - http://www.ebay.com/itm/7-TFT-COLOR-LCD ... 27bc14e911

12V 5V PSU - http://www.ebay.com/itm/12V-2A-5V-2000m ... 4853a24ba4

Joystick + Buttons pack + IPAC or something similar

Now What i want to know is can this PSU power this setup and if not do you guys have any recommendations?

PS: I'm trying to keep this as low budget as possible but its OK to spend a few more euros on a better PSU

PSS: I need international shipping in the PSU because i live in Portugal

You can, but you'll either need to chop the end of the PSU cable off and hardwire the PSU in, or make a custom plug to plug the PSU into.

Micro USB plugs:-

I have no connection with these people, I just found the plug useful.

Just make sure you wire the 5V wires and not the 12V ones :D

The car LCD monitor in your link is a composite monitor.
I have not used PIMAME but all the you-tube demo videos that I saw were done with HDMI monitors.
You might look for PIMAME forum and ask if it works OK on a composite screen. I know the Python games that come with the Raspbian image do not work as they have been written with fixed resolutions which are larger than the screen area. Makes the games impossible to play.
Unless specified otherwise my response is based on the latest and fully updated RPiOS Buster w/ Desktop OS.
