No sound

Fri Aug 16, 2013 9:18 am

I am just about ready to sling my Pi.
The device is running Debian Wheezy
32 Gig class 10 SD Card
HDMI cable connection to HD TV
(Cable works fine with tablet ect)
I have tried just about every "workaround" the internet can provide.
I have re formatted the SD Card and re-loaded so many times as at some point I lose direction
The display works fine as does the Wi Fi keyboard
Please... is there a definitive solution before I consign the lot to EBay?

Hi
sorry to hear about the trouble.
just wondering as it sounds like you've tried a lot of different things, is there another TV you can test on?
I have an older TV with HDMI and the edid is not the best so when things are not working as expected I check things out on my other (newer) tv.

cdlt,

The tv is a comparatively new set. The picture is fine. Tried head set and speakers. The only thing I haven't tried is vga.

Its a case of R>T>F>M> (I think because I haven't tried it yet)...
I quote...
"If the chosen format is a DMT format, the default driven mode will be DVI. The user will need to explicitly set driving mode to 2 if HDMI output is desired. In DVI mode there will be no sound!"
