HDMI Splitter

I have 2 screens that are running with my Raspberry Pi.

I purchased a Passive HDMI splitter. 1 Male --> 2 Female ports

However not surprisingly it does not work to split the HDMI feed. Has anyone got this working or know of a viable solution that does not require extra power? I have power constraints with the battery I am using.

I would also be very interested if anyone has got this working. I tried boosting the output using config_hdmi_boost=4 but with no luck. It boosts up to 7 but I didn't know that at the time. My pi is now tucked neatly in a flight case and getting it out is a huge faff. Can someone else with this problem try doing adding the following to config.txt:

Passive splitters are almost bound to fail.
Which device does it read the EDID from? How would it negotiate audio or HDCP (although the Pi doesn't impose HDCP).

Yes active ones require a small amount of power, but they're almost the same price as passive. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2-Output-1-In ... 0781902431 works for me, although I'm using it slightly differently to the OPs use case.

The listing for that passive spitter said this:

Please note:
◦1. Use the positive marking line(19 +1), you can connect two monitors at the same time, but cannot show simultaneously.Only can be used one open, one close interchangeably.
◦2. Use the non-marking line(13 +1), you can insert only one HDMI cable in instead of two at the same time. Otherwise ,both will display abnormally.

Not quite sure what that means, but it doesn't sound like it will drive two displays at the same time.
