Powering up monitor and keyboard on pi

Sat Aug 10, 2013 1:07 am

Hello All

I'm a beginner trying to set up my raspberry pi. It boots fine i believe (im using NOOBS) however, my keyboard does not work if the monitor is plugged in. If i unplug the monitor and press the arrow keys it works. But if i plug back the monitor...keyboard is dead again. I am trying to wonder if this is a power or pi problem since the monitor doesnt really draw power from the pi so why should the keyboard not work (correct me if im wrong).

Also i have tried with various chargers and each of them behave differently, some just reboot to the multicolor screen and some others never power the keyboard (monitor or no monitor). I got a charger...5v 2000ma. but again that one doesnt let monitor and keyboard work simultaneously. Would like if someone could recommend a charger or preharps let me know if my Pi is broken.

Thanks .

Any help will be appreciated

How do you know it is working without the monitor plugged in?

Have you tried pressing 1, 2, 3, 4 on the keyboard to change video modes? I assume you're using HDMI?

Have you tried changing any hdmi config.txt options?
