irrecord won't work

What happens with "mode2 -d /dev/lirc0" Do you get output when you push remote buttons?

OK, starting from the beginning. Have you loaded lirc_rpi either by adding it to /etc/modules or modprobing it? I am assuming you'r using a gpio receiver, is this correct? I'm not sure about the tutorial you're using but I KNOW this one works http://forum.stmlabs.com/showthread.php?tid=5549

I bought the same hardware, and had the same issue.
/dev/lirc0 is present, but when doing

Code: Select all

mode2 -d /dev/lirc0

i get :

Code: Select all

mode2: could not open /dev/lirc0
mode2: default_init(): Device or resource busy

I tried several things found in other topics, nothing helped...

I had the same issue. I was trying to run the irrecord command in /etc/lircd/lircd.conf.d folder as this is where the guide i was following left me at that point. What solved it for me was to run the command after having stopped the lircd service from my home folder.
