Raspbmc slows internet connection

Hi all,

I'm having a strange problem with my raspbmc install.

When I try to stream or download anything, my entire network / internet connection seems to ground to a halt.

I have a fibre broadband connection, so bandwidth generally isn't an issue.

what seems to cause the problem? Youtube streaming continuously buffering and failing, airplay from an iphone / ipad buffers and failing too.

It get's to the point where I need to pull the plug on the Pi to free anything up.

Even the remote stops working when I get these symptoms.

Any thoughts?

You could try running Wireshark on one of the computers in the same LAN to try to see what is going on.

The other clients mentioned are an iphone and an ipad, both of which presumably connect by Wi-Fi. Is the accused RPi also connected by Wi-Fi to the router or does it have a wired connection?

And what remote stops working?
