Yum hangs - constantly..

Sat Jul 20, 2013 1:44 pm

After waiting for all the 404s to end, and the repositories to (hopefully) become more reliable, I have hit another roadblock..
Yum hangs - every time - after ''--> Finished Dependency Resolution ''.. If I try ctrl/c a couple of times, the 'downloading' script continues, but then terminates before anything happens.. So far, I have tried reinstalling yum (by manually downloading the rpm, and then just using # rpm -Uvh..... --force ) and then reinstalling yum and all dependencies (also manually!). I have even tried installing an earlier version of YUM, but nothing works, so far..

How long do you wait until hitting ctrl-c?

As i remember, after deps resolving, yum makes a summary about the download and shows you the list. I wait always 2-3 minutes for this summary, before i can hit 'y' for the download.

I've tried many different delay times.. Sometimes leaving it for over an hour, to see if anything happened.. (and it was still 'hung'..) I did - twice - manage to get it to work after ctrl-c, but I found that this never worked over ssh, but only on a console/terminal session...
For me, this - and the seeming absence of regular updates - is a deal-breaker. I'm planning to revert to the standard Fedora 18 armv5tel for the time being. I'll probably try Pidora again when there is a Fedora 19 version out (as 'mainstream' Fedora 19 is armv7l only..)
Today, there is - finally - a Pidora update available, but yum - and yumex - still hang...
