I might be wrong here but as far as i know the mouse sends data to the receiver the receiver send that data as a normal mouse, so intern the computer does not know whether it wireless or wired. Same for keyboard.

Mouse ---> Receiver ---> Computer ---> Movement

Keyboard ---> Receiver ---> Computer ---> Letters/Numbers

^I got a little bit bored so i made a bad diagram^

It's a $35 computer, not a $700 PC.

It performs adequately for the purpose it was designed, to teach kids how to program.

Personally I think it's not too shabby, considering all the optimisation that could be done to the OS hasn't been done yet.

Thanks for the information about the wireless keyboard/mouse.  It WBN if people could post what they have tried and how it works.

I've been looking at the Logitech MK260 set, it seems a reasonable compromise between cheap and reliable, has anyone tried it?  Thanks for any feedback.

It would of been wiser to ask before you ordered it, no?

Know it's not quite the same one but I got hold of the Logitech MK300 set yesterday and the keyboard and mouse both work fantastically well with the RPi.

I'm using one of these and it works fine:

One thing I will say is watch the power. If you find your wireless (or even wired) keyboard/mouse arent working or work intermittently, unplug everything else that uses USB.

Personally I'd recommend running all USB stuff through a GOOD, EXPENSIVE, BRANDED hub, Not a cheap, crummy eBuyer or eBay hub as these are NOT as powerful as they should be, and wont work properly as they dont provide enough power in most cases.

That one looks interesting... does the touch-pad work OK with the Raspberry Pi also?

Surprisingly, yes. I have to say that I wasnt expecting it to, but it works fine and is pretty well thought out. The left/right click buttons are on the left of the keyboard so you can keep your hands either side. I thought it would be a bit odd but its actually really nice to use. You can also 'tap' the touchpad to click - that seems to work fine on the Pi too.

I can only assume that the USB dongle effectively converts the keyboards input into a virtual native keyboard/mouse.

Thanks for the quick reply... I saw the buttons in the picture, and rather liked the idea, so it is good to hear that it all works well.

Although I haven't got a Pi... yet, I am having fun sourcing some bits and pieces in readiness for its arrival, so I might just order one of these also!
