The i.MX6 boards are looking very attractive. If you need gigabit ethernet, then u probably also need the computational power to drive it. So take a look at the Wandboard Quad:

Be aware that the IMX6 can apparently only achive about half a gigabit per second of throughput due to internal bus limitations.

All ARM SoC's have their fair share of "dirty little secrets". The Gbit Ethernet issue is documented in the chip errata:
http://cache.freescale.com/files/32bit/ ... X6DQCE.pdf
ERR004512 ENET: 1 Gb Ethernet MAC (ENET) system limitation
The theoretical maximum performance of 1 Gbps
ENET is limited to 470 Mbps (total for Tx and
Rx). The actual measured performance in optimized environment is up to 400 Mbps.

I was looking too for a similar board, and there is plenty of options. However the main issue is storage, as everything goes through the usb 2.0 hub, ensuring that file transmission will always be at usb 2.0 speed.

The closest thing I've found is this: http://www.plugcomputer.org/development-kits/dreamplug/
But it is very pricey and after seeing the performance of its cousin guruplug server, I would stay the hell away from it:

Me does not like intel, yet they have a heavy competitor with this one:

Raspberry people (or Santa),

Please make an esata independent from the usb 2.0 (or usb 3.0) and 1G ethernet server below 100$.

Thank you,

While I agree that that would be nice, I'm not holding my breath. To begin with, it would take an entirely different SoC. (So far as I know, the BCM2835 doesn't have any sort of SATA interface built into it.)

You might want to look at the CubieTruck (specs: https://www.miniand.com/products/Cubiet ... ev%20Board). It appears to have what you're asking for at the price you want.

Sorry, not going to happen. There are other devices that fit your specifications, or you could design one yourself.
