Hi. I have a freeview box which is on my network as a samba client. How do I set up to watch the avi that are on the box. I"m a complete newbie. Also i have a Xbox wireless USB receiver can I install and use that as a mouse. I"m using Debian.

for playing AVI's you could try installing VLC, it wont play all your files because of lack of hardware acceleration and low CPU speed, but it might play some undemanding ones.

I've found setting up Samba a bit hard and mysterious. Does your freeview box support a dlna/UPnP server ? That would let you view the media on it from pretty much anything (xbox, PC...) via a dlna client.
