Two Pis working in unison?

After my old Pi's SD slot broke I've had to buy a new one. But is it possible to make use of this old Pi's corpse? All the other components seem to work. Could I use the GPIO pins to link my two Pi's to increase the processing power with them working off one SD card from my new Pi? Does anyone know any projects I can do with this at all?

I dont know about using the corpse of your broken pi, but the SD slot may be fixable.
