What do you think of my Carputer Plan?

Tue Jun 25, 2013 6:10 am

Hi,

I have eagerly began planning and researching my first Pi project, an in car computer for game emulation. After extensive research and staying up too late online I have come up with the basic plan of the components I will need.

The only major obstacle is integrating the video/audio output into my cars inbuilt entertainment system (Holden VF Commodore My Link, no sat nav option) I believe I could use the rear DVD input but that is something for later as I will need some sort of specific module/cable I think.

For now could you guys take a look at my plan, just looking for feedback in case I missed something or anyone has any suggestions.

Thanks!

Hey - I am thinking exactly the same thing for my VE. Interested in Emulators, SatNav and movies.

I have managed to add some DIY RCA cables to the side of the series 1 headunit and have video and audio in working very well but I have not removed the Video in Motion block as its either a massive pain in DIYing it or $300 which I think is also too much until I have everything else working.

I am unsure of any SatNav software available but am looking into it. The rest should be easy.

Not sure how to post video ....don't think this is it but....
