Don't have a Farnell account yet preordered a Pi so how do I know what's happening?

Hi,

I got the email from farnell saying that you could preorder the Raspberry Pi and clicked the link and preordered one but I never created an account. I tried to logon on to their website but my email address doesn't appear in their system so I can't. I therefore have no idea when my Pi might be coming but I do have a reference number, has anyone else done this or am I the only one silly enough to do this. What should I do, just sit and wait for an email or see if I can somehow get an account linked to my order?

Hi Elliot,

There's probably not much point asking here, as only Farnell will be able to answer your query.

From what I recall of the pre-order process, I thought you had to create an account, but I could be wrong...

I have this exact same problem; I emailed Farnell on the 21st April to ask how I can view the status of my order.

They replied: "Your order is currently on our back order list. This means that we have reserved stock for you and it will be allocated accordingly. Once this happens you should be able to view your order.
For current updates please refer to our website and also your inbox, as we will be in contacting you shortly with a status update on your purchase."

So I guess that they haven't forgotten about the orders, but we need to wait out for a bit longer. Hope this puts your mind at ease

Ohhh! You got me I meant the 12th April. It's the way that I put the correct suffix "st" as well that confuses me... odd typo.

I'm in exactly the same boat as you guys, ordering on April 1st when i got the pre order available email.

The email confirmation stated an order number and that they'd be in touch when stock was allocated but at the same time i went to their site via normal means rather than the link in the email and found the only option on there was the register interest one, so that in itself put my mind at ease that they'd only send out as many pre order available emails as they could fulfil.

Nice to know other people have tried to log onto there website only to find no account attached to their email address

Two things that might be of use.  Firstly, you must log in to the same site that you ordered through.  For me, I can only log in to http://uk.farnell.com rather than the Element14 site.  Secondly, I've found that I log in with a username, not an email.

I had the same issue, and spoke to Farnell UK. They confirmed the following

"we started to create internal accounts which links the order to a website account. In turn this allowed users to see the status of their orders. Hence why some user can see their order status and some can"t. We stopped doing this due to the number of orders and not having any stock. We will contact users again once we are ready to process requests"

I then asked "what about the reference I got when I typed in in card number on your site"

Their response was "this is your reference to confirm that you have received an email and typed in your card number, this is on your order file but waiting to be processed once we have stock."

Hope my experience helps you guys also have a look in the forums under "mass production pi" as this has some links with order updates. I would put it here but my phone won"t let me! Lol

Thank you guys, glad I'm not alone in this situation, I was going to email Farnell and ask them but I thought I'd see if anyone was in the same position as me beforehand which it appears there are quite a lot of us. Hopefully we'll get our Pi's soon though

Bearing in mind that this was over two months after they first started taking orders, it does look unfortunately as if you will be a very long way down the queue... possibly even later than May.

However they have said that they do intend to ramp up production, now that the necessary approvals have been obtained, and it has been intimated that we will have further news later this week as to the ongoing progress.

I suggest phoning Farnell, easier and quicker than getting into an email conversation.

I phoned them about my order, giving them my reference number. They told me that since I ordered on the launch day I should be getting my Raspi "soon", but they couldn't tell me exactly when. I took this to mean (but I could be wrong) they are waiting for stock to come in, and they're not sure exactly how many will come in and when, so they can't give exact dates till they have enough stock to get to where I am in the queue. Which seems fair enough to me, better than them making up an estimated date which then changes.

I also have an "order" number - and this all explains why the order does not appear in my element14 profile (I have bought from them before). In that case is it called trolling if I purport, that the "more-stock-arrives" is only going to be in May or June?

I joined the Q on April 1st, it would be nice to know , I mean, when? I wanted one since October sometime already, when this website was still just a landing page. I was getting a bloke at work interested in electronics (not arm devices, Atmel) and he showed me the pi site. Now that Jaceck is building things and programming them, I feel I need to step up the game with the coolest embedded device of 2012.

I got the farnell email twice so i orded two, one for this year and one or next.

if the order number is anything to do with your place in the queue then im about 13000th and 28000 respectivly.
